Laying the Groundwork for a Strategic Evaluation Framework (SEF) for HIV Prevention and MPT Product Development
This report outlines the methodology and results of an IMPT Secretariat project that was funded by USAID’s Office of HIV/AIDS, the objective of which was to create the foundation for a Strategic Evaluation Framework (SEF) for MPT development that can inform design and development decisions in a way that maximizes market success and impact of products. The building blocks of the SEF described in this document aim to ensure that technical activities for antiretroviral (ARV)-based HIV prevention products, including MPTs, are aligned with the market drivers for prioritized populations in areas of high HIV incidence in SSA.
The IMPT initiated the next steps to create a Strategic Target Profile (STP) for the dominant MPT product strategies in development aimed to synthesize learnings from end-user research in HIV prevention, family planning, and MPT development to inform target-setting around the ten identified STP attributes.
