Estimating the market size for a dual prevention pill: adding contraception to pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to increase uptake
Research findings suggest that the dual prevention pill (DPP), an oral contraceptive combined with pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to prevent HIV in women, may lead to a 2- to 10-fold increase in PrEP use in 15 sub-Saharan countries — a potential market of more than 1 million users. DPP consists of a 28-day dual prevention pill regimen in development by Population Council and currently in Phase 4 Post-marketing Trials.
