Global Forum on Multipurpose Prevention Technologies

Global Forum on Multipurpose Prevention Technologies
11-12 January 2012
London, United Kingdom

This two-day meeting provided the opportunity for a multidisciplinary, multinational group of experts to help shape the evolving strategy for accelerating the development of MPTs for those regions in the world with a substantial unmet need in HIV prevention, STI prevention, and family planning. This meeting analyzed MPT candidates and the challenges for advancing their development in the product pipeline. Upon exploring the group’s diverse perspectives several recommendations were proposed: to produce an MPT development and delivery roadmap, strengthen and expand interdisciplinary coordination, encourage harmonized regulatory pathways, and foster new partnerships.
